Akram Jomaa Islamic Center
On November 16, 1958, a hall was rented and about twenty Muslims established the Muslim Association of Calgary. In 1960, a few Muslims bought an old Anglican Church and converted it into a masjid. A committee in 1986 was formed called the “East Calgary Masjid Committee” to collect enough funds to purchase an existing building to establish a place to conduct regular prayers and Quranic classes. The final design was finally established in 1992.

Since 2005, the owners of Safari Grill have been flaunting their East African cooking skills across Calgary and claim to exceed all expectations. The restaurant’s décor is imported from vast lands in East Africa while exotic music is played in the background. With a spacious and well balanced dining area, Safari Grill accentuates its presence with many plasma televisions and offers a variety of delicacies.
